VE Celebrations
On Thursday 8th May, everyone at King's Ford Academy celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE Day with great enthusiasm! It was a day filled with fun, learning, and a fantastic insight into a pivotal moment in our history. The children looked splendid in their 1940s attire or dressed in the vibrant colours of red, white, and blue.
The day kicked off with engaging lessons about the significance of VE Day. It’s important for our students to understand why this day holds such a special place in our hearts. Following that, each class took part in making snacks reminiscent of the 1940s. They whipped up delicious egg mayo sandwiches, jam sandwiches, pear and peach flan, refreshing lemonade, and delightful jam tarts.
To add to the vintage experience, children also had the chance to learn traditional games that were popular back in the day. The highlight of our celebrations was the lively street party! Children enjoyed singing, dancing, and feasting on the scrumptious snacks they had prepared. Everyone had a wonderful time, making memories and gaining a little perspective on life after the war. Thank you for your support in making this day special!
