    Dear Parents and Carers,

     

    Welcome to Year 5 and to Class 5R!

     

    I am delighted to be working with your children as they begin this exciting new stage of their primary journey. Whether you are returning to King’s Ford or joining us for the first time, we are thrilled to have you as part of our community.

     

    Year 5 is a time of growing independence, new challenges, and fresh opportunities. Our focus this year will be on developing confidence, encouraging resilience, and strengthening teamwork. These skills will not only help your children succeed in the classroom but will also support them in life beyond school.

     

    In 5R, we encourage children to take pride in their learning, to view mistakes as valuable learning steps, and to celebrate each other’s successes. We will recognise effort, perseverance, and kindness just as much as achievement. My aim is to create a classroom where every child feels valued, supported, and motivated to do their best.

    Your partnership plays a vital role in making this year a success. By staying in touch, attending school events, and encouraging your child to share their experiences at home, you help build a strong foundation of support as they prepare for Year 6.

     

    Homework and reading at home are crucial to support your child’s education and confidence in school. Each week, children are expected to:

    • Read at least three times at home

    • Spend at least 15 minutes on Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS)

    • Practise their weekly spellings

    Your continued support with this is greatly appreciated.
