      Published 23/03/26

A huge well done to our year 6 football team, who were victorious last week against St James Primary school in a 2-1 win. There were some incredible passes, saves and last-ditch tackles on show, that  made  picking just one PE pupil of the week rather difficult ðŸ¤”.

It's been a busy term at King's Ford! This time it was the turn of our year 5 football team, who took on Ardleigh Primary School recently. The team played out a hard-fought 2-2 draw.                                                                            Hopefully another match, or even re-match, will be on the horizon soon! Well played team!

    • Afternoon with the Rotary Readers

      Published 19/03/26

This week, the School Council had the opportunity to sit down and chat with two of our wonderful Rotary Readers, Peter and David. Our Rotary Readers are invaluable, doing a fantastic job of supporting our children with their reading. As a school, we are very lucky to have 6 Rotary reader volunteers, who give up their spare time to come in and read with the children.

The children enjoyed asking Peter and David a range of questions—about reading, their time at King’s Ford, their favourite books and even which football teams they support!

It was a lovely and productive afternoon, giving us the chance to gather valuable feedback from both Peter and David, as well as the children. This will help us continue to improve and ensure our Rotary Reading sessions run as smoothly as possible for everyone.

    • World Book day

      Published 13/03/26

World Book Day is fast approaching. We will be celebrating on the actual day of World Book Day, which is Thursday 5th March. In order to celebrate the day in style and promote the love of reading, children will be allowed to dress up as a word. (No football kits please). As always, children will be engaged in reading activities, starting the day with 'Breakfast and a Book'. We ask that each pupil brings in a book from home that they no longer read. Please can your child wrap the book at home and write a tag with a short blurb about the book, e.g. which age group it is suitable for and a short description of the book. Please stick this on the wrapped book and bring it into school on World Book Day. These will be collected and put on display and your child will be able to choose and take home one of the books. (Your child will be sent home with a tag closer to the time).                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Children will also receive their book token on World Book Day (Thursday 5th March). We are sure you will all support your children with their purchase and enjoy listening to them read.

    • Children's Mental Health

      Published 23/02/26

We are excited to share that, as part of Children’s Mental Health Week, our school will be hosting a “Dress Your Teacher Day” to raise awareness and funds in support of children’s mental health. Pupils will have the fun and unique opportunity to “dress” their teacher—choosing an outfit or theme for them to wear. This light-hearted activity encourages creativity, strengthens relationships, and helps open up positive conversations about wellbeing.

This year, we are aiming to raise £100 to support children’s mental health charities. If your child would like to take part, we kindly invite them to bring a small sponsorship donation. Every contribution, no matter the amount, helps us move closer to our goal and supports vital services for young people. Once we have reached our target, the school will agree on a date for the event, and each class will have the exciting job of deciding their teacher’s fashion fate.

Event Details • Date of Dress Your Teacher Day: To be confirmed once the target is reached • Donation Deadline: 23rd February • Fundraising Target: £100 • Donations: Optional – all contributions welcome • Theme: Pupils choose their teacher’s outfit (school-appropriate)
